Three Counties Agricultural Society enjoys a long-standing relationship with Farming and Countryside Education (FACE), a charity that aims to educate children and young people about food, farming and the countryside.  To further develop the partnership opportunities for the benefit of young people Three Counties has recently become a Platinum Member of FACE.

Three Counties is a registered charity working for rural industry, the environment and countryside life in the three counties of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire.  Committed to supporting farmers, growers and horticulturists in the region, Three Counties aims to develop the understanding between urban and rural communities.

Mark Harwood-Browne, Three Counties’ Education Executive said “FACE is a key partner for us in providing land based education, especially on agricultural and countryside topics. To ensure maximum impact in improving understanding of land based issues, strategic partnerships are essential. We hope to be able to expand the teacher training initiative that FACE has been so successful with elsewhere in the country, and start to support schools in taking pupils out onto farms to learn where their food comes from.”

FACE has recently merged with LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) the leading organisation delivering more sustainable food and farming. FACE partners with education and industry to ensure children and young people grow up able to make informed decisions about the food they eat and the countryside it’s produced in.  They equip teachers and schools to use farming as a learning context and mobilise agriculture to engage with education.

Janet Hickinbottom MBE, National Education Officer for FACE, said "We are delighted that Three Counties Agricultural Society has increased its support for Farming & Countryside Education by becoming a Platinum Member.  We are looking forward to closer collaboration with them to further our mutual educational aims."
